Konstantinos Lamaj

Founder of kovald Digital Marketing Strategies

Even though he didn’t know what marketing is, at little age, Konstantinos Lamaj, wanted to work on the marketing field. Maybe the name “marketing” sounded good to his ears. Little did he know that later, on his business career he would run a digital Agency.
Konstantinos has studied Digital Systems at University of Piraeus.

In 2011 he got his Master Degree from the same university at Techno Economic management of Digital Systems. Those years gave him the opportunity to learn more about new technologies, IT, and marketing. Especially at his master degree he found out that marketing is a field of study that can easily be measured on the results it brings to a company. Apart from running Kovald, he enjoys rides with his motorcycle and snowboarding.

Your journey so far

It took me a long time to decide to quit my 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. every day job. The first year of the agency I was also working as a part time marketing instructor to an educational institution in Athens. I founded Kovald at the apartment I used to leave in, when I was a bachelor.

Everything was new to me and I had to deal with every aspect of this new role on my own. Later on, I managed to be able to have employees and today Kovald is a digital agency that seeks to change the way of doing E-Business in Marketing and Consulting. The agency delivers innovative ideas transformed into informed strategies, which help brands to start up or achieve faster and more productive and profitable results.

How do you help your clients grow and achieve their goals?

As we like to say, “Everyone has ideas, we just work on them!” Combining experience and technology, we deliver innovative ideas transformed into informed strategies that help brands to start up or develop faster and to become more productive and profitable businesses.

We always try to focus on 3 basic things before starting a new cooperation with a client.

  • We learn about the “who is who” of our client (services or products) and what are the client’s needs. We try to understand their vision and mission and be straightforward with them on how we can join their business journey.
  • We search or research the profile of their customers.
  • We take into consideration their competitors.

Our brands goals become our goals and every single time a new strategy must be developed to help our client achieve these goals. At the end of the day, numbers do talk anyway!

Experience from 0 to first 10 clients and further growth

The first client was a recommendation to me and gave me the opportunity to find out how an eshop actually works since I was also evolved on the eshop management. Afterwards I tried to find new customers online by giving them a free evaluation of their ad campaign.

This practice gave me the opportunity to help a lot of clients to grow their business. At the same time, I was following the same practices to my own company. I focused to my branding and my business identity and of course I invested time and money to build my social media channels.

Then, I started having ads on Google and Social media and on the way to get bigger we participated at the Google Elevator program that totally transformed the agency and gave us the opportunity to evaluate every single service we provide to our clients.

Keeping pace with changing technology and remain competitive?

Change is the only stable factor so we always seek on being updated. Information is everywhere nowadays and most of the time is free. On the other hand, we participate in every important event, seminar etc. we are always “open” to new ideas or other people’s expertise and of course let’s don’t forget that many times we learn from our mistakes… Because there are times that the key is not what “technology” you use but the way you use it!

Top hurdles faced for business growth

Finding the right candidate for a new job opening is quite challenging. Recruiting new candidates that not only have the skills on digital marketing but also can understand our vision sometimes can be difficult.

Core specialties and offerings to your clients

We try to understand their vision and mission and be straightforward with them on how we can join their business journey. Everyone can run a Google ads campaign… It is more than offering “great services”. It’s about treating every customer as the most valuable because this client has chosen our company to collaborate, no other company but our company!

Key to motivation

Martial arts help me on a personal level to stay motivated because in a way they do help you challenge yourself, your limits, the tech you to have patience and everything you learn is based on a strategy! On the other hand, recently I discovered the benefits of meditation!

Reading is something that relaxes me and inspires me on my every day routine. I specially have enjoyed The Art of War by Sun Tzu that explains us the mindset on how to grow and maintain your power in a battle. Two more books are “The Prince” by Niccolò Machiavelli and “The Art of Being Right” by Arthur Schopenhauer ( the funny thing is that Schopenhauer wrote his book to go against Machiavellianism and to help us oppose on those theories). These days I have been spending a lot of time with the Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda.

Advice to Product Makers

If you dream of success you have to work for it! But even work sometimes is not enough. You must truly love what you do. This is the only way to do great at work. Last but not least, forget about 9-5.
