I am thrilled to see that in just 20 days ProductHood has become a essential part of my life. Lokesh Gupta has proved with his fellowship program that he is a Rockstar who can engage his students with his portal and maintain stickiness to the pragram in the best possible way. One can learn so much from this program and get the community of aspiring PM’s through his portal is just mindblowing. I have done couple of other Product Management courses before but this one is really different. With daily tasks, weekly assignments and regular targets I have gained lot of confidence on my capabilities as a PM. ProductHood community is a mini google for me now for my #productmanagement related questions. Thank you Lokesh Gupta for having me in this powerful program.

Why a PM Residency?

Product Managers are shaped through experience, not instruction.

Product Management is not a skill you “learn” in isolation. It is a role shaped by context, trade-offs, and accountability.

Most aspiring PMs understand frameworks but struggle when asked to:

  • Decide what not to build
  • Operate with incomplete information
  • Work under real constraints
  • That gap is where most PM courses fall short.

Getting into Product Management is hard not because of lack of content but because real PM experience is inaccessible early in your career.

You’re expected to “have done the work” before anyone lets you do the work.

This creates a chicken-and-egg problem that courses alone cannot solve.

This is exactly why the Product Management Residency exists.

Instead of teaching PM concepts in isolation,
you work inside a live product environment — where decisions matter, constraints are real, and outcomes are visible.

You don’t just learn what PMs do.
You experience how PMs think, decide, and operate.

This residency mirrors how early-stage products are actually built today:

  • Small teams
  • AI-first workflows
  • Limited engineering bandwidth
  • High ownership and accountability

You work directly with Lokesh Gupta as a PM, founder, and builder not through simulated projects or classroom exercises.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

The PM Residency is a 3-month, part-time, founder-led apprenticeship where you learn Product Management by working on real product initiatives.

This is not a course or cohort class.
You operate as a PM Resident, contributing to live product work while receiving continuous feedback.

Most PM courses focus on:

  • Frameworks

  • Case studies

  • Simulated projects

This residency focuses on:

  • Real product work

  • Real constraints

  • Real decisions and trade-offs

You don’t just learn what PMs do. Instead you experience how PMs think and operate.

We’ve merged L1, L2, and L3 into a single integrated PM Residency.

Previously:

  • Learning, mentoring, and internship were separated into levels

Now:

  • Learning happens through work

  • Mentorship happens through execution

  • Internship experience is embedded into the residency itself

This reflects how PMs actually grow — progressively, through responsibility, not through tiers.

You will work on live ProductHood School, interviewhood.com initiatives, which may include:

  • AI-first product ideas and prototypes

  • Internal tools and workflows

  • Product demos and GTM experiments

  • Early-stage product features and improvements

Because engineering is founder-led, products are shipped incrementally, allowing you to see how real products evolve under constraints.

Some initiatives may go live, others may remain in prototype or experimental stages.

The focus is on:

  • Decision-making

  • Execution

  • Ownership

  • Learning from outcomes

This mirrors real early-stage product environments, where not everything ships but everything teaches.

The expected commitment is 8–10 hours per week.

This includes:

  • Live reviews

  • Product work

  • Execution tasks

  • Feedback loops

The residency is designed to be manageable alongside a job or studies.

No.

This is a rolling residency model:

  • New residents are inducted every 15 days

  • You join an active, ongoing product team

  • There are no fixed batch start or end dates

Yes but not as scheduled “sessions”.

Mentorship happens through:

  • Weekly product reviews

  • Feedback on your work

  • Discussions around decisions and trade-offs

This mirrors how PMs are mentored in real teams.

Yes.

Residents who actively participate and complete the residency receive:

  • An Internship Certificate

  • A Recommendation Letter based on real work and contribution

These are earned through execution, not attendance.

No formal PM experience is required.

However, this residency is best suited for:

  • Aspiring PMs serious about the role

  • Early-career professionals exploring PM

  • Builders, analysts, designers, or operators transitioning into PM

Curiosity, ownership, and willingness to work matter more than titles.

Yes if you’re willing to learn by doing.

This is not ideal for those expecting:

  • Step-by-step teaching

  • Spoon-fed answers

  • Passive learning

You’ll be uncomfortable at times that’s intentional.

In some cases, yes.

Residents who show strong ownership and impact may be invited to:

  • Extend their residency

  • Take on deeper responsibilities

  • Continue working on long-term initiatives

This is evaluated case-by-case.

You will leave with:

  • Real PM work for your portfolio

  • Confidence handling ambiguity

  • Stronger product thinking

  • Practical experience working under constraints

  • Clarity on whether PM is the right path for you

The Product Management Residency is priced at INR 29,999 or USD 330 for the 3-month program.

This covers:

  • Live, founder-led apprenticeship

  • Continuous feedback and reviews

  • Access to real product work and initiatives

  • Internship certificate and recommendation (based on contribution)

  • Long-term access to the ProductHood community

There are no hidden fees or paid upgrades.

This residency is not a traditional corporate internship.

You are not filling a headcount role. You are joining a structured apprenticeship where:

  • Significant time is invested in onboarding, reviews, and feedback

  • Work is guided, corrected, and mentored continuously

  • Learning is prioritized alongside execution

  • Multiple benefits including Premium learning content and interviewhood Jobseeker tools access.

The fee ensures:

  • Serious commitment from residents

  • High-quality mentorship and structured guidance

  • A sustainable model that allows real time and attention per resident

In return, you gain practical PM experience, real portfolio work, and clarity — outcomes that most unpaid internships and courses fail to deliver.

Free or unpaid internships often:

  • Offer limited ownership

  • Provide little to no mentorship

  • Use interns for execution without learning

This residency is designed around:

  • Learning through work

  • Structured feedback

  • Progressive responsibility

You are paying for guided experience, not just access to tasks.

In addition you get access to premium learning content through ProductHood School Think Tank Membership and pro interviewhood jobseeker career tools.

The Product Management Residency runs for 3 months.

This duration is intentional — it allows enough time to:

  • Onboard meaningfully

  • Contribute to live initiatives

  • Learn through multiple execution cycles

  • Build confidence and real PM judgment

There are no fixed batch start dates.

New residents are inducted every 15 days through a rolling induction model.
You join an active product environment rather than waiting for a cohort to form.

You should plan to spend 8–10 hours per week on the residency.

This includes:

  • Live reviews and discussions

  • Product work and execution tasks

  • Feedback incorporation and iteration

The residency is designed to be manageable alongside a job or studies.

You can expect 2 structured touchpoints per week, which may include:

  • Product reviews

  • Work-in-progress discussions

  • Decision walkthroughs

  • Feedback and retrospectives

These are working sessions — not lectures.

Live participation is strongly recommended, as learning happens through discussion and feedback.

However:

  • Sessions are designed to be time-efficient

  • Reasonable flexibility is supported when communicated in advance

Consistency matters more than perfect attendance.

Feedback is continuous and practical.

It happens through:

  • Live product reviews

  • Written comments on work

  • Discussions around decisions and trade-offs

You’ll receive feedback on:

  • Thinking

  • Communication

  • Prioritization

  • Execution quality

A typical week may include:

  • 1–2 live review or discussion sessions

  • Individual or small-group product work

  • Iteration based on feedback

  • Preparing updates or demos

Work varies week-to-week, just like in real product teams.

Yes.

The residency is designed for working professionals, with:

  • Part-time commitment

  • Flexible execution

  • Asynchronous-first workflows

Time management and consistency are key.

Life happens.

If you communicate early:

  • Scope can be adjusted

  • Tasks can be reprioritized

However, sustained disengagement may impact:

  • Depth of learning

  • Final evaluation

  • Certificate and recommendation eligibility

Yes, there will be occasional live sessions conducted by:

  • The founder

  • Invited industry practitioners and experts

These sessions are contextual and experience-driven, not classroom-style lectures.

They are designed to:

  • Share real-world perspectives

  • Break down actual product decisions

  • Discuss career paths, failures, and trade-offs

  • Deep-dive into topics relevant to ongoing work

These sessions supplement the residency — they do not replace the core apprenticeship and live product work.

We do not offer job guarantees or placement promises.

The residency is designed to help you become job-ready and credible as a Product Manager by giving you:

  • Real product experience

  • Portfolio-worthy work

  • Clear articulation of your PM thinking

  • Confidence to handle interviews

While we may:

  • Share opportunities when relevant

  • Offer guidance on positioning and preparation

Securing a role ultimately depends on your effort, performance, and market conditions.

After completing the PM Residency, you will be better equipped to:

  • Apply for Associate Product Manager / Product Manager roles

  • Transition into Product Management from adjacent roles

  • Confidently discuss real product work in interviews

  • Build and present a portfolio backed by real experience

Many residents use the residency to:

  • Strengthen their PM profile

  • Identify skill gaps to work on next

  • Decide whether Product Management is the right long-term path

The residency focuses on readiness and clarity, not guaranteed placements.

Yes. There will be supplemental reading material shared throughout the residency.

These resources are:

  • Curated and context-specific

  • Shared when relevant to ongoing work

  • Meant to deepen understanding, not overwhelm

Reading material supports the work you’re doing — it does not replace hands-on execution.
The primary learning still comes from doing the work and receiving feedback.

The entire residency is facilitated through a central community portal and dedicated chat groups.

This is where:

  • All product work, updates, and discussions happen

  • Tasks, context, and feedback are shared

  • Announcements and resources are posted

Live sessions and reviews are:

  • Scheduled in advance

  • Clearly communicated through the community

  • Designed to respect working professionals’ schedules

This setup mirrors how modern remote product teams operate — asynchronous-first, transparent, and structured.

You will have full access for the entire 3-month residency period.

During this time, you can:

  • Participate in all live touchpoints

  • Engage in product work and discussions

  • Access shared resources and community channels

After completing the residency:

  • You retain read-only access to selected community spaces and resources

  • Continued active access may be available through future programs or extensions, where applicable

However you will have access to the Think Tank Membership content for 3 years.

During the residency, you will be exposed to real product ideas, internal workflows, early-stage strategies, and execution decisions.

The NDA ensures:

  • Confidential product information is protected

  • Open and honest discussions can happen safely

  • Trust is maintained within the residency environment

The No-Compete Agreement is limited in scope and intent. It exists to:

  • Prevent misuse of confidential ideas during or immediately after the residency

  • Protect early-stage product work that is still evolving

  • Ensure fairness for everyone involved

It does not:

  • Stop you from working as a Product Manager

  • Prevent you from taking PM roles elsewhere

  • Block you from applying your learnings in your career

These agreements reflect how real product teams operate and help maintain a professional, high-trust working environment.

You are a product. Invest in yourself.
